Alpha
Alpha is the internal beta version, which is now called CB. This version means that the software is only a preliminary product, usually only communicated internally by software developers, and a small part is released to professional testers. Generally speaking, this version of the software has more bugs, and ordinary users are advised not to install it.
Beta
Beta is a public beta version, which is a test version open to all users. Compared with the alpha version, this version has been greatly improved and serious errors have been eliminated, but there are still some defects that need to be further eliminated through large-scale release testing. This version is usually released free of charge by software companies and users can download it from relevant websites. After being tested by some professional enthusiasts, the results are fed back to the developers, who then make targeted modifications. This version is also not suitable for general users to install.
Gamma
Gamma refers to the candidate version of the software version for official release. This version is quite mature and is almost the same as the official version to be released, so it becomes the candidate version for official release. So many test versions are made to meet the needs of users as much as possible for the final product, and to reduce the bugs in the software as much as possible. Then, after some modifications, when it becomes the candidate version for official release, it is called gamma (also called RC - Release Candidate).
